What a Coating Actually Does
It is the service people ask about most, and the one with the most nonsense written about it. Here is the plain version, so the decision can be made on facts rather than marketing.
A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that cures into a hard, glass-like layer bonded to the clear coat. Not a wax sitting on top of the paint, and not a film that can be peeled off. Once it has cured it is part of the surface until it is polished back off.
Hydrophobic Behaviour
Water pulls into beads and sheets straight off the panel. Dirt and road film struggle to hold on to a surface that slick.
UV Protection
Queensland sun is the harshest thing most paint ever meets. The coating takes that load instead of the clear coat, which slows fade and oxidation.
Chemical Resistance
Bird droppings, tree sap, bore water and road grime sit on the coating rather than etching their way straight into the paint.
Showroom Gloss
Depth and reflection that is still there months later, not a shine that dies a fortnight after the car leaves.
Easier Maintenance
A wash takes half the time and carries far less risk of putting swirls back in, because far less has managed to stick to the car.

A coating is not a force field. It will not stop stone chips, it will not remove scratches that are already there, and the car still needs washing, just less often and far more easily. It also cannot hide anything: whatever the paint looks like on coating day is what gets locked in, which is why correction comes first here rather than instead.
Paint correction
Machine polishing that removes swirl marks, light scratches, water spots and oxidation instead of hiding them. Single-stage enhancement through to multi-stage correction.
